About Me

 About Eat, Sleep, Clog

Hi. I am Skylar Norris. In case you couldn't tell, I enjoy clogging.

When I was younger I had a blog, Melody of You (melodyofyou.com), but after the first year I was too busy and quite frankly, I didn't care enough about it and I let my hosting and domain name expire. Since then, I have graduated high school, declared my major in elementary education at Appalachian State University, and gotten married. For months I have been racking my brain to come up with a name for a new blog. Although I am not completely satisfied with this one, it will do for now. And no, I will not bore you by blogging daily about my eating, sleeping, and clogging habits.
I started this site as a way to vent. Mostly, I will probably talk about the hilariously embarrassing events in my life. People enjoy my embarrassment so much I thought I should share it with the world. And it is nice to vent about all of the lovely people in my life once in a while.

A Little About Me...

Obviously, I love to clog. I have done it for 16 years! If you don't know what clogging is, the best way to learn is probably to look up some videos on YouTube. Some would compare it to tap, but of course I am biased and think it is way better. Clogging originated in the Appalachian Mountains. If you are looking up some videos, probably the most well-known group (as far as the general public is concerned) is Dynamic Edition from America's Best Dance Crew. They are a fun group to watch. I dance with High Country Dance Studio. Although I clog, the studio offers several types of dance and workout classes including clogging, hip hop, zumba, and a new aerobics class. I am sure there are some that I missed. There are dance classes going on literally all day at the studio. But as for me, I clog.

I also thoroughly enjoy playing the piano. I didn't start until I was eight years old and I was never as dedicated to piano as I was to dance, so I am not nearly as confident in my piano skills. But nonetheless I do enjoy it. I mostly play for fun. When I was younger I took lessons and played in recitals and that sort of thing, but I always hated piano lessons. After getting married and (obviously) moving in with my husband, I no longer have a piano in my house so I don't get to play nearly as often as I would like. But there is still plenty of music in this house...

My husband is a bluegrass musician with a band called Surefire. This photo (to the right) is from our wedding day at our reception. He plays the mandolin mostly but he is very talented at pretty much any instrument he attempts to play.
